Congratulations to Vice President Matt Sander on celebrating his 25-year ±¬ÁϹ«Éçversary! His expertise, dedication to associates and commitment to advancing our business have been instrumental in our success. Matt’s enthusiasm and leadership have made him a cornerstone of ±¬ÁϹ«Éç’s culture.
To celebrate this milestone, Matt shared some of his favorite ±¬ÁϹ«Éç memories, his career role models and some insightful advice on building a successful career.
- What’s your favorite part of working for ±¬ÁϹ«Éç? My favorite part of working for ±¬ÁϹ«Éç is the opportunity to collaborate with such talented and driven associates. Their energy, expertise and willingness to tackle challenges head-on make every day both rewarding and enjoyable. Even when we face tough obstacles, the collaborative spirit and camaraderie turn those challenges into opportunities to grow and succeed together.
- What’s your favorite work or project-related ±¬ÁϹ«Éç memory? The toughest projects always stand out. In the moment, they’re challenging, but looking back, they bring the greatest sense of accomplishment. Succeeding as a team through those challenges is what makes them unforgettable. Too many come to mind over 25 years to single only one out!
- What’s your favorite non-work-related ±¬ÁϹ«Éç memory? My favorite non-work-related ±¬ÁϹ«Éç memories are the client trips, golf outings, Echo Valley Ranch trainings and Tahoe ski adventures. There’s been so much fun along the way—if only I could remember all of it!
- What’s your proudest accomplishment in your career so far? My proudest accomplishments—earning my first project with Flooring Systems, achieving my PE license and becoming a partner—are milestones I’m grateful for. But my greatest accomplishment is now having the opportunity to lead others and celebrate their growth and successes.
- What’s one lesson learned you’d want to pass on to fellow associates? Stay focused, hustle when it counts, and practice patience—knowing that hard work and time will pay off in the long run.
- Do you have a professional role model? If so, who? I’ve been fortunate to learn from many incredible professionals (and still do). If I had to create a role model, it would be a Frankenstein of all those people—combining the best traits from each one into a single, highly efficient, slightly terrifying individual.
- What ±¬ÁϹ«Éç value is the most important or relevant for you? Be positive, upbeat and have fun. It’s difficult to choose just one since ±¬ÁϹ«Éç’s Core Values are all spot-on, but reflecting on feedback from my fellow associates, it seems that being a positive influence in the office really stands out. You spend a third of your life at work, so making it a positive experience truly matters.
- Do you have any big sabbatical plans in 2025 to celebrate? Fun fact: I’ve never taken my sabbatical in my eligible year… and my fifth one will be no different. The plans are still TBD for location and timing, but rest assured, it’s going to be HUGE!
